1. What it is: Annual Fundraiser for ShiftSpace, at ShiftSpace. A run way show, a fusion of art, fashion, and performance, the event takes place in the evening, tickets are $10 - $20, all food is donated from local vendors, and there will be various performances before, during, and after the show - musicians, dancers, etc. Money earned from the event goes towards maintenance of the gallery, bringing in visitiing artists, advertising/promotion of future shows, etc.
2. Who can participate in the show? ANY WSU student or alumni (only students are eligible for prizes) (note: the competition is open to ALL WSU students, not just art students this year) You may work solo or in groups, you may model your own entry or have someone else do it, your entry could require multiple models.
3. What is going to Happen/What to Expect
a. Pick your category, Sign up, Make your entry
b. Night of the Event: show up at specified time, arrive in costume if possible, space for storage/getting dressed is available but limited, arrive as early as you need to, give yourself plenty of time to get ready.
c. Entries are seen by category. Participants of each upcoming category will be lined up back stage 10-15 minutes prior to walking the run way in a predetermined order. When your name is called, walk out, and take your time!!! SELL your entry, strut, perform, ham it up, whatever is most appropriate for your entry - plan your "delivery" beforehand - and don't be nervous!! Each entry is seen individually, and then the category concludes with a final look at all contestants.
d. After all 4 categories have been seen, the judges deliberate. (usually 15-20 minutes). Then....the big moment. Everyone is rounded up backstage before the winners are announced. Winners of each category are announced -if you're the winner, you'll go up on stage, and accept your award. Then the Grand Prize is announced - one of the four category winners will receive this.
